What’s up with Satya?

Currently: Living and working from Central America.

Travel Log:

Friday April 27th — Time to keep heading south. Destination: Nicaragua. Traveling to León for a couple days, and then its on to the next beach town.

Sunday April 8th — Traveled to a great little beach town in El Salvador called El Tunco. Days split between lounging in hammock, playing ukulele, swimming in the sea, hanging with friends, eating great food and… working! Wrote about it here: Finally Living the Dream (The One Little Question That Changes Everything). The hotel I’ve been staying in is fantastic — right on the beach, beautiful rooms, inexpensive, and decent wi-fi — so hard to leave, but I will definitely be back. Weird fact: The currency is all American dollars — they moved to dollars in 2001 — and the place is very Americanized, but the cost of living is relatively high for the locals and Central America in general, after Costa Rica and maybe Panama.

Wednesday April 4th, 2012 — Arrived in Antigua in time for the big holy week festival and found a room (luckily). City completely packed and intense. Such a great city for wandering, and dancing at night. Wrote a short piece about the joys of aimlessly meandering and the Semana Santa processions here: The Great Joy of Aimless Meandering (Antigua: Holy Week + Photos).

Friday March 30th, 2012 — Traveled across the lake to Panajachel. Staying at a great little family hotel, Villa Lupita. REALLY good, inexpensive food at the local restaurants and street vendors around the large central market. Fun times dancing and celebrating with friends all night Friday and Saturday around town. Good wi-fi spots are a little harder to find, but my current favorite, Chinitas, has wonderful pots of Puerh and Oolong to go with the delicious banana bread. Planning to go to Antigua Wednesday for a few days — Easter week celebrations are the biggest of the year for the Guatemalans. Curious.

Thursday March 29th, 2012 — Last night in San Pedro, stayed at the lovely Pinocchio’s Hotel across from the Buddha (such great mattresses, my lord). I love this town, but decided it was time to leave today. I will miss my friends here especially, and all the amazing local spots and lakeside views! It’s been crazy and insane and amazing. This is the main piece I wrote about a crazy experience here: When Your Whole Life Boils Down to A Single Moment of Reckoning: (What do you make of it?). Time to buckle down and get some serious work done though….

Arrived: Guatemala City (GUA) February 29th, 2012. Traveled to San Pedro La Laguna, Lake Atitlan, Sololá. Found a treehouse cabin by the lake with good internet. Here until I decide to leave….
