Capturing the Extraordinary Sweetness of Existence (A 2-Minute Mini Practice)

“All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler is unaware.”
~ Martin Buber

welcome bus
At the start of a long journey, going somewhere wonderful – India.

Every moment I’m awake and not savoring the sweetness of this existence is a wasted moment.

The challenge, of course, is that every moment cannot be sweet. Or so it seems. Innate to our existence, and all that comes with it, is a bittersweet sorrow of sorts….

Inevitably, life veers towards the bitter and unbearable more often than we may like. There’s something delicious to hold on to and savor, though, just beneath the surface experience of whatever’s going on. It’s the sweet tenderness at the heart of all that is — the warm and glowing essence of existence — and it’s undeniably radiant.

Tara Sophia Mohr: On Being a Cauldron for the Feast of Light

tara sophia mohrIn my work over the past year or so I’ve become enamored with the muse, ‘flow’ and the creative process. In that place where spirit moves directly through me — merging somehow with my essence and guiding the work — is where the greatest stuff is born.

I was moved when I perceived this essence in the poetry work of Tara Sophia Mohr. There’s an ineffable deliciousness in the writing that can only be driven by such grace. Truth. Soft and gentle, yet fiercely alive. The Ape Man Chronicles Part 1: Unveiling the Heart of Darkness

HanumanA long time ago, Apeman was happy to swing in the trees with Apelady, eat bananas, and have a rompus time all ‘round til the end of his days.

Then, something changed — he got tired of swinging and wanted more! His creative appetite was no longer met by his ape man life. So he migrated off the trees and started building cave dwellings and homes for his ape family.

He began to craft tools and implements for hunting, while the ape ladies gathered together and did ape-lady things. Soon they had fires for cooking, rudimentary clothing, painting, crafting and group activities, and the ape peoples’ lives were happy and bountiful. For the most part.

But Apeman still was not satisfied — he wanted more…

He learned to farm and grow crops, and soon civilizations of cultured ape people were popping up everywhere. Every step the ape man made further away from the life of the trees, he missed them even more. And yet his thirst for more pleasure, satisfaction and power drove him to create and innovate relentlessly.

The Evolution of Apeman and the Heart of Darkness Continue Reading →
