Let it all wash over you – then ground back into your true power

let-it-wash-over-you-then-stand-in-love-satya-colombo

It is a dark day in our nation’s history. And if you have been feeling the shock and despair that I have since last night then you understand—I’ve gone from complete shock and tears, dry heaving and denial to anger and despair, to hope and love and light and back again. All of this is a lot to process. The darkness has been celebrating its victory. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel. There is a ray of hope. There is an old truth to remember here…

What happens when you turn on the light in a dark room?

Darkness is just the absence of light.

That right there is why Love always always wins in the end. And I’m not trying to play any of this down. I’m not telling you or anyone to chin up and gloss it all over with a sunny outlook. A lot of people are scared for their lives and basic freedoms right now, and that fear is real. There is some bad shit that’s gonna go down. Guaranteed. And the people will rise up. We will rise. It’s going to be the most amazing time in modern history. Change is happening, for real. There is no question.

I want to encourage you right now to be with everything you’re feeling. To let it wash over you, to not try and dissect it and pull it apart to make sense of it. Just let it bring up whatever it brings up. And then ground down into the earth and into yourself, and find that thread of real love and passion inside of you—the fire of love in your heart that burns so damn hot and fierce—and let that right in. Allow that warmth to hold you and nourish you and enter you fully.

As you feel the strength of the earth and your spirit—the unconditional love of the universe that is always there and never leaves—and you allow that to take the place of everything else, you reclaim your power. You stop giving it away to fear and anger and hatred and all the other manifestations of the shadow. And maybe even find yourself in alignment with your Soul, with the Great Spirit, in that place where everything is OK because you are standing in your true power. You are in your true self. You are so fucking alive and awake with the truth of who you are, that nothing can bring you down. Do this for as long as you need, until you get to that place at your center. That is who you are, and no one can ever take that away from you.

This is what I’ve been talking about for the past 5+ years when I talk about Walking in Beauty. This is THE WALK. The darkness needs to come to the surface to be cleansed and healed and dealt with. That’s just how it works.

This is our time people. It’s time to step into our true power and do the work we’ve been called to do. Time to stop playing small and holding back our light with every excuse imaginable under the sun. We have a lot of work to do! I’m game. Are you ready to go? Because the world needs you now more than ever in your highest light and power. Let’s do this.

Let it all wash over you
Then ground back into your power.
Let the Love that you are
Fill you up and heal yourself
And the world.
We’ve got this people.
Because Love always always wins in the end.

All my love,
Satya

This Saturday, November 12th, I’m leading a Breathwork Healing group that will be a much needed love-in of light workers, friends and healers in Los Angeles at the DEN Meditation. There is still room to join us here. This was not at all what I had pictured for this group, but it’s what is most needed now. I will be doing more work like this in Southern California in the coming months as well as online so that you all  can join in from all parts. We have our work cut out for us. ALL IN! <3 <3 <3

Full Respect, love and acknowledgment to Rose Cole for this video that set me straight today and back on the path to what needs to happen now.

Taking It On the Road: Pacific Northwest

Satya at Mt Tabor

Sunset at beautiful Mt. Tabor, Portland, Oregon

I learned something interesting about myself in the past weeks since I started on this last journey north from the land of angels lost and found… I actually LOVE being around people. It’s the quality of people that makes all the difference. Hanging, sharing, co-creating with incredible, bright stars doing amazing work. It’s a rush! I actually found myself a little addicted to it.

Since 2010 I’ve done 99% of my work online and through the internets. That’s all changing now, gradually, as I step into a new chapter of engaging with my life and work from a different space. Expanded ease and joy—joyful presence—no matter what I happen to be doing. Sure, there will always be those moments when “the stuff” hits the fan, or the darkness throws its long shadow over the light. But as I embrace this sweet as love approach, I find that those moments don’t seem to hit me as hard or long. (Also: Hitting my sweet spot with travel/adventure/life-mission rolled into one — always when I thrive!)  Continue Reading →

Susannah Conway’s April Love 2015 Challenge

faces21

Starting Wednesday, April 1st! I’m thrilled to see what happens with dear Susannah’s April Love Photo Challenge + honored to be a part of it. Would you look at all these gorgeous and passion-filled women! (and then there’s little ol’ me…! ;)).

Ha—I was feeling a bit intimidated with the heat on to perform, but I finally overcame my stage fright… join the challenge and see me bare my soul on what self love and self-care mean to me personally, along with 28 luminous women (no charge and nothing sneaky—just a lovely community service project).

In Susannah’s words:

“The theme of the challenge, as you’ve probably guessed, is LOVE — love for ourselves, our lives, the world around us. LOVE expressed in gratitude and kindness. February might have Valentine but we’ve got April LOVE :)

If you’re ready to infuse a little more love into your life there are two ways you can play:

PART ONE: the Photo Challenge / PART TWO: the Daily Emails…
You’ll get a daily email containing personal stories (and confessions!), videos, tips and easy suggestions you can try yourself — the first email goes out Wednesday April 1st.”

No More Eyes Wide Shut — We Must Out-Create the Horror With Creative Strength

eyes wide open

Street art in Athens — October 2014 — #eyeswideopen

The truth of injustice in this world is almost too horrific to look at. Like the Tom Hanks character in Stanley Kubrick’s “Eyes Wide Shut”, the absolutely confounding madness of what we see in our world causes us to wander through our lives in a state of denial or confusion about what’s really happening around us.

In my preface to the forthcoming EDGE FLOW collaborative book project, I wrote:

The thing is— the truth is frightening, ugly…and just plain horrible to face. If you read the world news on any given day, it’s clear that humans are pretty wretched beings. Selfish, self-absorbed, despotic, fundamentalist, racist, sexist, murderers, baby killers and psychopaths. And those among us who are most needed to show up, to step up our game and do what we can to make a difference—the highly creative, empathic, change-oriented, good-hearted, mindful people—we’re often the ones who suffer most deeply from seeing all this. And so we turn away.

How often have you heard these words, or told yourself even: “It’s just too much, I can’t handle it!” Or, “I haven’t watched the news in years, it’s too depressing.” But it’s only because we’re not strong enough in ourselves that we can’t handle this stuff. Because when you have a stronger handle on the truth of who you are, and can stay grounded in that longer, you can really see all this stuff and not let it be a complete headf*ck. We need that, so we can roll up our sleeves and say,

“OK, I see what’s going on — I know I can’t fix it all myself, but my heart is pulling me to do _this_, and I feel pretty strongly that it might make a difference. And I can handle this, I got this….”

And then you do it. And it does make a difference. And it’s good.

At the Center of a Beautiful Life: MEDITATION (Calm, Nourished & Totally Lovable… Every Day)

“Breathing in, I calm my body.
Breathing out, I smile.
Dwelling in the present moment
I know this is a wonderful moment.”
–Thích Nhat Hanh, Being Peace

Quan Yin Meditation

Quan Yin, Goddess of Great Compassion (with wish-fulfilling and healing willow branch)

Some time ago I began searching for a daily practice that could provide nourishment on all levels — from my outlook and state of mind, to my physical and spiritual well-being. I’d been meditating for years, and could make a simple switch to drop into a deep state of Fierce Presence at will, but I wasn’t able to sustain a daily meditation practice for more than a month or two without intermittent pauses.

The thing is, my meditation practice has been the cornerstone of my life path for many years — a sanctuary of sanity — and I knew I was holding myself back by not committing to a regular daily practice. So, I resolved to cultivate a practice of mindful awareness on all levels, every day, led by my morning meditations. Since then I’ve experienced remarkable stretches of clarity, and some fascinating revelations!  Continue Reading →

Reflecting On A Month of Life and Work in South America (The ‘Space-Bubbles of Light’ post)

Space-Bubbles - Cajamarca Road
As I write these words I’m sitting on a bus headed out of Chiclayo, Peru. I joke that it’s the greatest city you’ve never heard of, but there is something remarkable about this little pocket of the world, humming as it is with the lives of a million people. I came here in search of something I’ve been seeking out since arriving in Peru one month ago: A sense of being where I am meant to be, and feeling truly alive — a place where I can thrive in doing my life’s work, and create a sense of peace and centeredness in the midst of a crazy busy life.  Continue Reading →
