Preparing for a Life of Epic Adventure (Travel optional)

Rooftop where I slept for two months in Varanasi, India - the world

I’m currently preparing for a major journey to Central America in late February where I plan to stay for about six months — the pieces are gradually coming together, but the thing itself scares me half to death.

I don’t think it’s necessary to travel outside of your town or country for a life of epic adventure, but it does require a certain amount of preparation, and a different way of looking at the world than usual. I honestly haven’t done enough of this kind of thing in my life recently, but when I have it’s been amazing to witness the serendipitous moments of synchronicity unfolding.

Lots of joy in those moments…

I’ll be working while I’m there, writing and producing large-scale events and projects online and in real life, and running my tiny interactive media agency (check out the new site design). I plan to stay in budget hotels, cabanas and communities for longer periods of time, where I can connect reliably to the internet and also maintain a good quality of life. I will continue to share a good deal of my experience with you here.

The Fierce Wisdom Holiday Manifesto: Share it With Those You Love…

Inspired by my friend Cate Stillman, who asked me to contribute a manifesto to her fantastic Evolve Your Winter Traditions project for YogaHealer.com

This is a bonus download for Cate’s program members, but you can get the free version here — hope it works for ya – (p.s. she has a great ‘Best Thanksgiving Ever Guide’ you can grab there).

My vision here is you download the manifesto and email it to some close friends and family — maybe print up 5-10 15-20 copies and distribute them at a couple gatherings this holiday — just use recycled paper por favor! Could be something to talk about.

(Hey maybe even keep one for yourself — I’ll probably keep it folded on me — and add your own to the list in the blank spaces. I’ve  got a few more I’d like to add myself already… :))

Share this with your gang, and while you’re here would you mind Tweeting this now?
;)

The Art of Reinvention: (Or, 33 things I’ve never told you, that you may not know about yourself too…)

satya portrait

My confession: I haven’t always been 100% honest with you. Since starting here in mid-2010 I’ve consistently portrayed a highly selective and manufactured perspective of who I am.

Yes, I’ve revealed a few juicy tidbits and secrets along the way, but for the most part it’s all been just part of a broad-reaching overall strategy: Speak the truth, turn you on, and pull you in.

Like any good creative marketing director, I was focused on pursuing my mission in terms of what would turn you on and get you hooked — and for the most part it’s been successful. I’ve had more traffic, tweets, emails and general attention over the past six months than I could reasonably be comfortable with. But instead of revelling in it, I’ve fought it viciously like some celebrity fighting the paparazzi, and hiding out in my hermit’s den; doing progressively less of the creative work, and focusing more on my business and personal life, and other miscellaneous drama.

The trouble is, when I don’t do enough of my own creative work, I start to get cranky. And cranky does not make sexy.

So, here to remedy the crank-factor — and the shiny happy bullsh*t kool-aid factor — is a set of random, racy and hopefully thought provoking truths that define who I am now, why I’m here, and why the f*ck you should care.

Why: If you can see who I really am, and get a few buttons pushed of your own, I’m guessing you’ll be more likely to look at who YOU really are, remember what truly matters to you, and hopefully be inspired to do something about it. And if I can do that, then I guess I’ve done my job…

33 things you didn’t know about me that you might hate, love, relate to, or resent, that could possibly change your life, but at the minimum will stick in your brain, make you think, and possibly piss you off:
