13 Unusually Brilliant Quotes on Overcoming Fear + One Undeniable Reason WHY {Quotable Wisdom}

I was inspired by the work I'm doing now to search out 13 of the world's most unusually brilliant quotes on overcoming fear. The main criteria is they could NOT be worn out feel-good quotes that make you want to gag. Unique, loveable, sharable, quotable, hard-hitting inspiration bullets to help kill your fear -- these are among the best I've read....

Why it matters...

This is the time to catch the fire of your spirit and let it carry you through creating your life's great work. This is the time to go for broke, put it all out there once and for all, put 100% of yourself into doing the work that has been calling to come through you. If not now, then when...?

2013 is just around the corner. This is our time -- time to capture our destinies -- time to let it happen.

THERE IS NO BETTER TIME THAN NOW.

Think less. Do more.

I was recently on the verge of meltdown pulling together the biggest project of my life thus far, and the overwhelming fear of failure had me in a chokehold for days. It was only through the help of some very wise friends -- and surrendering the fear -- that I was able to pull  out of the darkness, breaking through to something far greater than I could have imagined.

The limitations we place on ourselves are all caused by fear at the source. If you're feeling stuck or blocked you might enjoy what I wrote about the experience: How to get unstuck in your life's great work.

The fire burns away fear. To surrender to this fire: release your own attachments to your small self, and let the universe to do its work. Then there is less time to over think everything, and more work to just get done.

Why I'm compelled to share these...

There is a fire of truth burning in my soul. Every day is a new day, every step outside the door a new journey. The inspiration and flow comes through me in mad bursts of momentary brilliance -- I bolt up and let it come through however it wants to come.

When I surrender to this flow, my life is surrounded by the warm glow of quiet confidence of my truth and my spirit, and straight up excitement that BURIES doubt.

The point is this: I want you to experience the same beauty if you want it too.

13 of the world's most unusually brilliant quotes to inspire your journey and help you overcome fear - in all its forms. . .

1. "Let me not pray to be sheltered from dangers, but to be fearless in facing them. Let me not beg for the stilling of my pain, but for the heart to conquer it. " -- Rabindranath Tagore

2. "I will not die an unlived life. I will not live in fear of falling or catching fire. I choose to inhabit my days, to allow my living to open me, to make me less afraid, more accessible, to loosen my heart until it becomes a wing, a torch, a promise. I choose to risk my significance; to live so that which comes to me as seed goes to the next as blossom and that which comes to me as blossom, goes on as fruit." -- Dawna Markova

(Reading that is like balm to the soul. Print that out and tape it to your wall. Burn it in your soul. I'm puting that somewhere I see it ALL THE TIME.)

3. "Our greatest fear should not be of failure but of succeeding at things in life that don't really matter." -- Francis Chan

(This is probably the main reason why our world is falling apart. We have millions of absolutely brilliant people focused on pushing paper better and other meaningless stuff to make their car payments and go out to the movies once in a while. Now, I love my car -- miss it! -- and I love the movies, but playing it safe to cover your own butt is never going to bring real happiness. If you really know that your work matters, and you're committed to doing it at all cost, you have everything you need right there to overcome any fear.)

4. "I was never afraid of failure; for I would sooner fail than not be among the greatest." -- John Keats {tweet this}

5. "Thinking will not overcome fear but action will." -- W. Clement Stone

(Borderline cliché, but I love the simple beauty of it. Sometimes any kind of action works! Go take a swim or run on the beach. Breathe deep and move your booty!)

6. To live in the world of creation—to get into it and stay in it—to frequent it and haunt it—to think intensely and fruitfully—to woo combinations and inspirations into being by a depth and continuity of attention and meditation—this is the only thing. -- Henry James, Notebook entry.

(To get swept into your spirit's calling -- to be taken by it -- is perhaps the greatest vehicle for overcoming fear.)

7. "You love fear. The ending of fear is death, and you don't want that to happen. I am not talking of wiping out the phobias of the body. They are necessary for survival. The death of fear is the only death." - U.G. Krishnamurti

(The ego loves fear -- it makes you feel alive. It helps you stay alive. It gives you something to fight for and fight against. Eliminate fear of what really matters and you suddenly have the space to awaken to the vast depths of truth within you.)

8. "Who sees all beings in his own self, and his own self in all beings, loses all fear." -- Isa Upanishad, ancient Hindu scripture

9. "You can discover what your enemy fears most by observing the means he uses to frighten you." --Eric Hoffer

(This one goes deep if you read it with the recognition that the greatest enemy is only your ego or small self.)

10. "Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about their religion; respect others in their views, and demand that they respect yours.

Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide.

Always give a word or sign of salute when meeting or passing a stranger if in a lonely place. Show respect to all people, but grovel to none. When you arise in the morning, give thanks for the light, for your life and strength. Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies in yourself.

When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home."

--Chief Tecumseh, Shawnee Nation Statesman

(One thing is certain: You will die. Face this inevitably with brave resolve -- if you have no fear of death what else is there to fear...?)

11. “The amateur believes he must first overcome his fear; then he can do his work. The professional knows that fear can never be overcome. He knows there is no such thing as a fearless warrior or a dread-free artist.” --Steven Pressfield

(You feel the fear, and jump anyway -- it may always come back and rear its ugly face, but you will keep seeing it and LAUGHING AS YOU JUMP.)

12. "Why are you afraid? This is where you get it out of your system: bankruptcy, unfulfilled potential, trashing your reputation, losing it all. And then (because we just can’t stop there), you’re going to apply some simple analysis to it.You may have nothing to fear after all." --Danielle Laporte

(One of the most powerful questions you can ask yourself to overcome fear. Danielle has a great little video and worksheet here on deconstructing your fear.)

13. "You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do." --Eleanor Roosevelt

(This one has such power. "You must do the thing which you think you cannot do." A challenge that makes my blood catch fire...the warrior awakens.)

And one more bonus quote -- courtesy of Danielle's worksheet -- such FIERCE TRUTH I could not keep it from you:

"If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you." --Saint Thomas

...

It's normal to be crippled by fear when beginning work on your greatest projects, and getting ready to release them to the world. You've got to learn how to get out of your own way and do the work that's crying to come through at any cost. Grab onto your reason for living, remember that the vision comes from something greater than you, and let that flow carry you through.

Question less, trust more -- just do it.

When all else fails, you can always fall back and let loose for a while -- lose a battle to win the war, but NEVER _ GIVE _ UP.

That's it for now. Which quote is your favorite...? Share it with your friends.

Which one will you use to inspire your greatest work...? Share it with yourself.

Roll with it. Love it. Let it love you back....

Love, Satya
